Tannery Music Series introduces Beer Garden, Free Live Music programming and more this July 1st, 2022. An afternoon leading til evening event with great drinks, great music, outdoor garden games, and award winning food options.
With Canada Day just around the corner, we are presented with another opportunity for reflection on our country’s past while establishing intentions for our collective future. We are reminded of the rich unceded and unsurrendered Indigenous land we are fortunate to inhabit as well as the teachings of and connections to these generous communities, while also recalling the chilling history tied to these relations. We celebrate the millions of diverse individuals with whom we share the title “Canadian,” while acknowledging the work needing to be done towards an equitable, inclusive, and safe future for all. We plan to use July 1st as a day to highlight and showcase varying voices in our communities; to listen, to learn, and to take action using an intersectional lens as we journey forward as a country. “Let it be so, and let it be the truth.” – Wolastoq Grand Chief morningstar burning; Ron Tremblay.
We are excited to present Mi’kmaw musicians from our community on this day.
Quinn Bonnell (of Esgenoopetitj First Nation/Burnt Church First Nation) uses his fantastic instrumental ability to combine singer-songwriter stylings with blues and folk on much anticipated upcoming EP, The Night. Prior to penning his first offering, the song “I Don’t Mind,” Bonnell was a dedicated guitar player for multiple cover bands. With a number of short runs in groups from within Miramichi under his belt, he decided to embark on his own musical endeavours, drawing influences from artists ranging from John Mayer, Kings Of Leon, Radiohead and Gary Clark Jr.
Dylan Ward of (Natoaganeg First Nation/Eel Ground First Nation) and
Jerry-Faye perform as a powerhouse duo when not fronting the band
Marian. Marian is like something from the mid-seventies – a sound &
style rooted in the same iconic spirit of song-bands from yesteryear.
With big chords, and wide swaggering grooves, Marian has grounded
themselves as true-to-form rock n’ roll.
